Journal entry #1: The Kite Runner

“There is a way to be good again” pg. 2 and 202

I think this is a very important quote from the novel it appears at the very beginning and throughout the story. This one sentence means many things Throughout the story. It brings back many old and forgotten memories some good and some bad like those that have been locked away in Pandora’s Box for many years and have just been set free. But with it there is also a message of hope. A message that past sins can be corrected and forgiven and that “all can be good again”. In this story Amir must make a very tough decision. In order to make up for his sins he must travel back to Kabul a province in Afghanistan. Which has just under gone a war and is now under the control of the Taliban. If Amir decides to go back to Kabul he will most certainly be risking his life. This makes me think about what some people will do out of guilt and how far I would go to right my own wrongs.

What I would like to write about

When writing I would like to be given topics to write about but still be given some freedom to express our opinions. I find it difficult to choose one thing to write about when given an open topic assignment because there are so many topics to choose from. I would like to use this blog to write about interesting current events and things that happen in the news or to discuss topics that interest me like sports. I would also like to write class essays on the blog instead of on paper in the classroom because I find it easier to write and organize my ideas on the computer. I think that the blogs should be evaluated on a 6 point scale but only our best five blogs of ten will count for our final grade.

Super power

If I could have any super power I wanted I would choose the power to control the weather. I think this would be a good super power to have because I could go anywhere I wanted and travel the world by using wind to blow me where I wanted to go, I could make it sunny and warm wherever I was and control the temperature so I was never to hot or to cold. I could also use my powers to help solve global problems like global warming I could also use my powers to make it the optimal plant growing weather in certain areas and help put an end to world hunger.
